Experiences of Early Adopters of Information & Communication Technologies (ICT's) Intended to Enable Patient-Centered Care:  Patient and Provider Perspectives

The overall objective of this research is to elicit, describe, and model provider and patient perspectives on provider organizations' attempts to leverage ICT's in their efforts to implement patient-centered care reforms.

The proposed setting for this work is Group Health Cooperative.  As an innovator and early adopter of healthcare ICTs (e.g., EMRs, patient portals, secure messaging, online health risk appraisals), Group Health provides a robust setting for naturalistic user studies that aim to explore ICT adoption phenomena in the context of patient-centered organizational redesign efforts.
