Delays in Grant Application Submission due to Fires – 2008 . "Electronic and paper applications that are submitted late because of fires should include a cover letter noting the reasons for the delay." (July 9, 2008) NIH Implementation of Government-wide Standard Terms and Conditions for Research Grants. "Under the initiative all research agencies would be able to utilize a standard core set of administrative terms and conditions on research and research-related awards that are subject to OMB Circular A–110, ‘‘Uniform Administrative Requirements for Grants and Agreements With Institutions of Higher Education, Hospitals, and Other Non-Profit Organizations’’. (July 3, 2008) NIH Policy on Submission of Additional Grant Application Materials. "the opportunity to submit additional materials should not be a means of circumventing submission deadlines, page limitations, or content requirements and should not substantially enhance, alter or add to the originally submitted application." (July 3, 2008) Revision of NIH Policy Concerning Concurrent Support from Mentored Career Development (K) Award and a Research Grant. "The policy change detailed below expands eligible grants to include research grants obtained from any Federal agency; clarifies when the research grant may be obtained relative to the years remaining on the K award; and clarifies that status as a PI on a multiple PI award also confers eligibility." All applications received for May 25, 2008 and subsequent due dates must use the new instructions and forms." NIH Plans to Eliminate Paper Notification of Notice of Award Letters. "Effective January 1, 2008, NIH will no longer provide paper notification of the Notice of Award (NoA) letters. Instead, NoAs will be sent solely via e-mail to grantee organizations and will be accessible in the eRA Commons through the Status module." October 9, 2007 Non-Competing Grant Awards Funding Level. "Until the final FY 2008 appropriation is enacted, NIH will issue non-competing research grant awards at a level below that indicated on the most recent Notice of Award (generally up to 80% of the previously committed level)."
